OUR STORY

Pravin started making dabeli for charity events back in 2006 where they were highly praised for their satistying taste. Compliments kept flooding in and many praised them in taking them back to the authentic taste of dabeli’s in Kutch, India. Bansuri Dabeli opened its first takeaway in London in 2007 where people could experience that same original kutchi dabeli taste whilst offering more and more people the great choice on flavoursome food. The takeaway was one of the first of its kind in London and having started off with less than 10 options on the menu - the rest is now history. Today, there are over 100 pure vegetarian items on the menu with options of no onion & garlic as well as items for Ekadashi.

Once you taste Bansuri Dabeli’s food, you’ll return over and over again! The food is loved by all walks of people across London and it’s surrounding areas and well known for using the freshest ingredients in all the food. From the original dabeli to the crunchiest jelibi and freshly made nasto to delicious shakes - you won’t be disappointed.

GIVING BACK, WHAT INSPIRED US...

When lockdown hit, many businesses were affected. There was a lot of uncertainty and even we at Bansuri Dabeli, didn’t quite know what to expect.

Watching the news and reading the papers gave us a picture of what was really happening - people losing jobs, food banks drying up and our NHS system under extreme pressure. Nobody knew how bad circumstances would get.

The situation inspired us to help the local community as much as we could. We wanted to give back, we wanted to help in any way we could. We contacted the local hospitals to offer staff on the front line fresh tasty food from day one of the lockdown.

Doctors and nurses working tirelessly and selflessly everyday and putting others first was the story up and down the country. The NHS hero’s deserved all the help they could get and keeping their energy levels up is something we wanted to help with. We prepped 250 meals everyday at the start of lockdown back in March 2020.

As the days hit and the lockdown deepened, and with the help of family & friends, we put together a system in an empty school to prep, weigh and pack food with the help of local community drivers and chefs to deliver 3000 meals per day.

We continued to do what we could until mid August when the virus threat had somewhat stabilised and things at the time, began to get back to normal.

The tireless efforts of all staff at Bansuri Dabeli as well as family & friends was incredible and we couldn’t thank everyone involved enough to make it a community project. The gratitude from all the recipients was so incredible and we’re so glad to have helped make a difference to the local community.
